Turner was Britain's greatest and most prolific painter, producing over 32,000 works, many of great visual and thematic complexity. This two-day course will explore the breadth of Turner’s art through visits to the Collection displays, the Turner and the Masters exhibition and the Prints and Drawings Rooms, offering a special insight into Turner’s watercolours and his personal sketchbooks. This is a unique opportunity to learn about his output, as well as the varied techniques he employed in the context of his contemporaries and the Turner and the Masters exhibition.

Group A: Introduction to the Tate Britain Print Room and a viewing of some of Turner’s sketchbooks and preliminary studies. Led by Julia Beaumont-Jones.
Group B: Visit to see and discuss the Turner oils and watercolours in the Clore Galleries. Led by Eric Shanes.
