JMW Turner
Moonlight, a Study at Millbank exh 1797 Tate |
Turner’s powerful evocation of the landscape and revolutionary use of paint has been an inspiration to subsequent generations of artists. Turner himself was influenced by and responded to the works of the ‘great’ painters of his day and the Tate Britain exhibition Turner and the Masters explores Turner’s responses to these painters. This course will give students an introduction to painting techniques and effects demonstrated by Turner. With expert guidance from your tutor, you will investigate the ways in which pigments are mixed into oil paints and explore the techniques and application of oils to produce your own masterly studies and finished works. The course includes an exclusive tour of the Turner and the Masters with the exhibition curator at Tate Britain.
No experience needed.
Please note that the course can either be followed on six Monday evenings, between 12 October and 16 November, or on three Saturdays between 21 november and 5 December.
