What is Post-Colonialism?

Part of Black History Month

What is post-colonialism? Many contemporary artists have tackled issues connected to race, identity, history, memory and nationhood. More recent work has begun to explore the impact of globalisation and cross-cultural communication. So is this the post-colonial debate? This study day combines teaching and discussion to review the origins, history and relevancy of post-colonial theory, to consider some contemporary artists and their work that tackles these issues, and to explore the social and political context. David Debosa, lecturer in Visual Culture at  Goldsmiths College will address art practice, past debates and the ever-changing global outlook.

This event takes place during Black History Month.
