Turtles Can Fly (2004) by Bahman Ghobadi follows a group of orphaned children living in a refugee camp on the Iraqi-Turkish border. Set in the run-up to the 2003 Iraq war, the children – played by actual refugees – survive by defusing landmines. This award-winning and powerful drama was the first film to be made in Iraq after the fall of Saddam Hussein.
