Nosferatu

Sunday 2 April 2006, 15.00

FW Murnau, Germany 1922, 94’, cert PG

The inspiration for many modern vampire films, FW Murnau's classic has stood the test of time. Count Orlok's move to Bremen brings a plague, traceable to his dealings with the land agent Thomas Hutter and to the Count's obsession with Hutter's wife. The film is the earliest surviving screen adaptation of Bram Stoker's novel Dracula (1897) and was almost destroyed by Stoker's widow because of copyright infringement.
