Richard Long came to prominence in the 1960s as part of an international generation of artists who extended the possibilities of sculpture beyond traditional materials. Clarrie Wallis, curator of Richard Long: Heaven and Earth, discusses how Long initiated new procedures for art grounded in direct contact with landscape, and the continuity of this approach.
