The Art of Travel
Alain de Botton and Simon Faithful

Friday 6 May 2005, 19.00–20.30

The urge to be somewhere else is one of the most abiding traits of human nature and few things are as exciting as the idea of travelling somewhere far from home. Sometimes we travel to see beautiful buildings and inspiring landscapes; sometimes for health and relaxation; and sometimes to escape our hum-drum existence. All of us, however, hope to encounter something different and to experience the rhapsody of change.

Artist Simon Faithful and philosopher Alain de Botton join travel specialists to discuss some of the pleasures and disappointments that can make travel so compelling.
