Geese Flying South (1990)
In the 1960s, a whole generation of artists emerged who tried to find new ways of engaging with the subject of landscape. For Hamish Fulton the art form is the walk made within the landscape. The 'artwork' that is produced subsequently has a secondary status, on the basis that 'an object cannot compete with an experience'. Fulton has made numerous walks through the Scottish Cairngorms. All his work emphasises the unique and finite nature of his experience. |
