1960
- Starts a welding workshop at St. Martin’s.

- Caro makes Twenty-Four Hours his first abstract sculpture in steel.
1961
- Completes first polychrome sculpture, Sculpture Seven.

- Meets American writer Michael Fried.
1963
- One-man exhibition at Whitechapel Art Gallery, London.

- Teaches at Bennington College, Vermont with painters Jules Olitski,
Paul Feeley and Peter Stroud.
1964
- First one-man exhibition in New York at André Emmerich Gallery.

- Begins producing sculptures in series.
1966
- Selected for the British Pavilion at the Venice Biennale and awarded
the David E. Bright Foundation Prize for best sculptor.
1967
- Retrospective at Kroller-Muller Museum in Netherlands.
1969
- First major retrospective exhibition at Hayward Gallery, London.

- Moves studio to former piano factory in Camden Town, London. Patrick
Cunningham, a welder, becomes Caro’s studio assistant.
