1970
- Makes ‘table pieces’ incorporating the edge of the table.

- Works for short periods at Kenneth Noland’s studio at Shaftsbury, Vermont.
1972
- Works at Ripamonte factory in Veduggio, Italy. Produces sculptures
using soft-edge steel; they are exhibited at Galleria dell’ Ariete in Milan.
1974
- Works at York Steel Company in Toronto using heavy steel equipment and mobile cranes.

- Kenwood House, London holds solo exhibition of table sculptures made from rusted steel.
1975
- Retrospective at Museum of Modern Art, New York.
1977
- Artist in residence at Emma Lake summer workshop, Universtiy of
Saskatchewan, Saskatoon. Produces the Emma series: linear works
made from lightweight tubular steel.
1978
- Produces ‘writing pieces’: small, linear sculptures made rapidly – like doodles – in
steel.

- Commission for the new East Wing of the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC.
