Cornelia Parker's aim was to evoke the spirit of plenty and Christmases past. The tree was laden with dried fruit threaded on wires and there was a lingering smell of brandy. The fruit represents both a winter store of energy and the potential ingredients for a Christmas pudding.

About the artist:

Cornelia Parker was born in Cheshire in 1956. She studied at Gloucestershire College of Art and Design, Wolverhampton Polytechnic and Reading University, and was shortlisted for the Turner Prize in 1997. She lives and works in London.
