Days Like These is the second Tate triennial exhibition of contemporary British art. It presents work by twenty-three artists working in a variety of different media: painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, video and sound. The aim is to show something of the vital character of art made in Britain today.

The exhibition was selected by Judith Nesbitt, Head of Exhibitions and Display at Tate Britain, and Jonathan Watkins, Director of the Ikon Gallery in Birmingham. They decided against trying to select work which could be gathered under a particular theme; the twenty-three artists in the show do not all speak the same artistic language. Neither have they attempted to summarise contemporary practice, or to isolate a group of new artists whose work seems to point in a single direction. Instead, the Tate Triennial focuses on new work by artists of several generations, since it all contributes to our understanding of days like these.

Much of the artists' work can be seen in the exhibition galleries on level 2 at Tate Britain. However, some pieces are shown in the larege, central Duveen galleries, and other places both inside and outside the building. A free exhibition guide, available throughout the gallery, will show you where to look. Further information about each participating artist is available in a special reading area outside the exhibition galleries.
