Lieutenant Governor Gall-Stone
In this little vignette in the top right corner of the print,
Gillray shows Thicknesse, his hands raised in admiration, standing
behind his third wife, Ann Ford (1737-1824) who was a talented musician.
Here, she is shown playing music on tumblers filled with different
amounts of water, to an audience of pigs, one of which is moved
to tears. She is accompanied by an orchestra of little devils.
Detail from: James Gillray, Lieutenant
Govenor Gall-Stone, inspired by Alecto; -or- The Birth of Minerva.
