Originally published on the books pages of the Independent on Sunday as part of a weekly series responding to and encapsulating all aspects of literature. This cartoon marked the publication of David Sylvester's latest (and I think last) book on his old mate Francis Bacon, which gave me a golden opportunity to mess about with some iconic Bacon images and get them to say stupid things.
