Christopher Orr's small, tightly painted canvasses create imaginary worlds where the outmoded convene. Often depicting Romantic landscapes reminiscent of those by Caspar David Friedrich and JMW Turner, Orr's paintings are peopled by a strange assortment of figures that have been recycled from other sources.

Pillaging images from old National Geographic magazines, children's books, wildlife handbooks and photographs taken from newspapers, Orr always keeps his figures the same size as they were originally found, endowing second-hand imagery with a magic realism.
