Ozbolt's dark and romantic vision emerges through his small-scale paintings. These eclectic images cover a wide range of sources – from religious iconography to popular culture to children's tales. They are drawn from experiences that have touched him, such as turbulent events from his past, observations during travels and his recent art studies.

Often a theme is triggered during the process of painting. Suicide was inspired by a terrorist act described on the radio. Le Duc takes its source from a nineteenth-century book of coats of arms. Ozbolt's Dadaist spirit is revealed in the decision to work across different styles and techniques.
