Nicole Wermers' sculptures combine formal aspects of modernism with luxury of consumerism. This visually seductive work subtly refers to elements that shape our everyday experiences, from design and advertising to architecture and the urban environment. The artist is fascinated by the corporate strategies that shape modern consumer behaviour, which are based upon an aesthetic encounter.

Wermers is particularly drawn to thresholds or 'in-between spaces' such as department store entrances whose shoplifting detectors provide the inspiration for Untitled (Forcefield).
