Live Works: Marc Camille Chaimowicz
Marc Camille Chaimowicz: Partial Eclipse... The performance Partial Eclipse... was first staged at the Tate Gallery in 1981. A young man, playing the part of the artist, paces a figure-of-eight pattern on the floor while a soundtrack combines music with a broken narrative of reminiscences. Like the installation Here and There…, also included in the Tate Triennial, this piece examines memory and its partial recall. The photographic slides offer glimpses of a life lived, but they are intersected and partly obliterated by the shadows cast from the objects and bodies situated solidly within the present.
