Turner Prize 2006

The Turner Prize 2006 was awarded to Tomma Abts, shortlisted for for her solo exhibitions at Kunsthalle Basel, Switzerland, and greengrassi, London. The jury admired the rigor and consistency of Abts's painting, in which compelling images reveal their complexity slowly over time. Also shortlisted were Phil Collins, Mark Titchner and Rebecca Warren.

Turner Prize 2005

The Turner Prize 2005 was awarded to Simon Starling - shortlisted for his solo exhibitions at The Modern Institute, Glasgow, and the Fundació Joan Miró, Barcelona. Also shortlisted were Darren Almond, Gillian Carnegie and Jim Lambie.

Turner Prize 2004

The Turner Prize 2004 was awarded to Jeremy Deller - shortlisted for Memory Bucket, a mixed-media installation at ArtPace, San Antonio, documenting his travels through the state of Texas. Also shortlisted were Kutlug Ataman, Langlands & Bell and Yinka Shonibare.

Turner Prize 2003

Marking its 20th year, the Turner Prize 2003 prize was awarded to Grayson Perry. Shortlisted alongside Jake & Dinos Chapman, Willie Doherty and Anya Gallaccio, Perry was admired for his use of the traditions of ceramics and drawing in his uncompromising engagement with personal and social concerns.

Turner Prize 2002

The Turner Prize 2002 prize was awarded to Keith Tyson for his exhibitions at the Venice Biennale, the South London Gallery, and the Kunsthalle Zurich. These shows demonstrated 'the playful energy, richness and breadth of content of his graphic works, as well as their relationship to his machine sculptures.' Tyson was shortlisted alongside Fiona Banner, Liam Gillick and Catherine Yass.

Turner Prize 2001

The Turner Prize 2001 prize was awarded to Martin Creed shortlisted for the exhibition Martin Creed Works, organised by Southampton City Art Gallery and shown at Leeds City Art Gallery, Bluecoat Gallery, Liverpool, and Camden Arts Centre, London, and Art Now: Martin Creed, Tate Britain, London. Also shortlisted were Richard Billingham, Isaac Julien and Mike Nelson.
