The Texture Mapping
treatment applied to
Frank Auerbach's, Head of E.O.W. (1957–8) and Rimbaud
(1976), is the third in a range of special
imaging treatments on our website being supported by
the New Opportunities Fund NOF-digitise programme.
This remarkable tool allows the user to reveal
texture and depth to these paintings not normally visible
under gallery conditions.
Note: You will need to have
Adobe Flash installed to view the treatments.
Tate produced the Texture Mapping treatment in partnership with
the National
Gallery, employing technology pioneered by Hewlett-Packard Labs.
The interface was designed by Tate. We will be working in conjunction
with a range of different technologies over the coming years to
pilot further exciting new ways of representing our works.
