Wednesday, 10 August, 4pm: the second creative meeting takes place at the Community Centre of Bedřichovice, 74 villagers attend the meeting to confirm their participation in the project. The youngest is two years old and the oldest is seventy. They are all looking forward to travelling to London in September, and they seem excited about the prospect of moving their village to the surroundings of Tate Modern for one day.
Apart from filling in application forms with contact details and passport information, the residents have once again been invited to discuss the daily activities they would like to perform on 3 September in London – one may do the laundry, another could teach useful Czech phrases to passers-by, children will play board games and draw on the pavement with chalk, some may be playing petanque, singing, resting…
As in the last meeting, the Bedřichovician-English dictionary was also on the agenda. The publication is being prepared by the villagers in collaboration with Kateřina Šedá and the writer Aleš Palán, and will include expressions commonly used by the residents of Bedřichovice, conversations they have had about the project, scenarios of what may happen when they are in London, local PA announcements, and drawings of what people do or wear only in the village.
