Hello, my name is Kerry Morrison and I am an environment artist commissioned by Tate Liverpool to deliver a programme of artistic and environmental interventions in Princes Park, Everton Park and Springfield Park (all in Liverpool) as a part of Our Liverpool Landscape: From Turner to Today a series of outdoor events inspired by Tate Liverpool’s summer exhibition, Turner Monet Twombly.

I will be delivering 4 elements of Our Liverpool Landscape which are Sun Seekers, Running Wild, Bird Sheet Music and Counter Culture.  The first element to be performed is Sunset Seekers.

You should know that Liverpool has the most spectacular sunsets. On a fine evening, from the right vantage point, you can watch the sun setting over Birkenhead, brandishing the sky with streaks of pinks, oranges, and reds.

The sun is critical to life on earth, we cannot touch, smell, or taste it but we can feel it and we can see it.  As a part of Our Liverpool Landscape: From Turner to Today, I want to find the best vantage points in or around, Princes Park, Everton Park, and Springfield Park for viewing sunsets.

To find the best sunset spots in the parks, Andrew Pollard (a writer and actor friend of mine) and I will take to the parks with a pair of stepladders, a compass, deckchairs, and our whit.  Between the 23 – 25 June we will select possible prime sunset viewing vistas, erect our health and safety standard stepladders, and proceed to climb and evaluate the locations marking them as:

Andrew and I hope that those of you familiar with the 3 parks will help us locate the prime spots, and point us in the right direction so please do come and find us! At the end of each day’s sunset seeking expedition, Andrew and I will pull up a deckchair, brew up, and enjoy the sunset, please do come and join us.

Alternatively you can share your thoughts on the best locations below or tweet me your spectacular sunsets @kerrymorrison

When we have located the best possible vistas in the 3 parks we will announce the 3 viewing for each park, along with a date to collectively experience the sunset (sometime in October). Deckchairs or a viewing platform will be provided so keep checking back for more information on this project.

Kerry will be performing on 23 or 24 June in Everton Park (weather dependant) follow @tateliverpool for updates.  Find Kerry to learn more about this project.
