Tate ran a competition with students from the Royal College of Art to design Christmas cards which could be produced and sold at Tate shops. Five Christmas cards were created exclusively by postgraduate students from the RCA’s School of Communications.
We loved the entries and were delighted with winning cards of the competition. Students drew their inspiration from a wide variety of sources, including memories of childhood Christmases in the country, the ambiguous emotions provoked by the festive period, and the idealised view of a western-style Christmas as seen by a student from Korea.
The competition was judged by artist and illustrator Sara Fanelli, Professor Jeremy Myerson, Deputy Director of Tate, Alex Beard, and Tate Merchandise Director Rosey Blackmore.
Five of the Christmas cards Lips, Stag, Winter Jumper, Family in Snow and Light are the winners of the competition and can be seen on the online shop. A special offer of 4-for-3 packs of Christmas cards is available so we hope you like the designs as much as we do at Tate.
The Christmas cards are available to buy in the online shop
