About

Following the recent triumph of The Gates (1979–2005), their epic installation of saffron-coloured fabric panels in Manhattan’s Central Park, renowned artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude discuss their work, including their next project Over the River, Project for the Arkansas River, State of Colorado. Often taking years to plan, their ambitious projects, such as Wrapped Reichstag (1971–95), The Pont Neuf Wrapped (1975–85) and Running Fence (1972–76), have developed out of numerous artistic trajectories, including Constructivism, Conceptual art, land and environmental art. Frequently reframing the forms and spaces of both the urban and the natural landscape, their work fosters a vital reconsideration of social dynamics, administrative systems, funding and public space. Documentation, drawings and collages by Christo and Jeanne-Claude for the project Over the River, Project for the Arkansas River, State of Colorado are being exhibited at Annely Juda Fine Art, London, 19 October – 17 December.
