About

Rachel Whiteread is one of the most high-profile and critically acclaimed contemporary British artists. Working across a range of scales and contexts, from monumental public works, such as House 1993, to smaller, more intimate pieces, she has created a highly distinctive and evocative visual language, which explores the ways in which objects can be infused with memory. As her major Unilever Series commission for Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall enters its last month on display, Whiteread discusses the working processes behind the piece, and its reception, with artist and writer David Batchelor.
