The large-scale live performances of Vanessa Beecroft have initiated debate internationally. From aspects of performance to gender politics to questions of violence and voyeurism, her work provokes and questions our relationship to fashion, women and classical painting. Cornelia Parker explores the relationship between performance actions and objects, to push the limits of what we understand to be art objects and mementos of the everyday. Her work touches on memory, loss, nostalgia and historical fact.
