The Pre-Raphaelite Dream:
Paintings and Drawings from the Tate Collection
Tate has one of the world's outstanding collections of Pre-Raphaelite
pictures and this exhibition will showcase the breadth and quality of
the material in the Collection. Familiar, iconic paintings by Rossetti,
Holman Hunt and Millais will be brought together with works by artists
who were friends or followers of the Brotherhood and includes some outstanding
pictures by artists such as Simeon Solomon, Spencer Stanhope, Arthur Hughes
and Robert Braithwaite Martineau; it will also include excellent works
by slightly forgotten members of the Brotherhood. The exhibition will
also highlight the outstanding strength of Pre-Raphaelite drawings in
the Tate collection, with a particularly strong group of major Rossetti
and Burne-Jones works on paper, which are only rarely seen at Tate.
