Over the last 55 years, Tate Members have made a remarkable difference and helped Tate acquire over 500 important works for the collection and, as a thank you, Tate would like to give you a little something back. Every two years, an artist represented in the Tate collection is invited to become the Tate Members commissioned artist. This unique commission was conceived as a way of recognising and celebrating the vital support Tate Members provide to the four Tate galleries.
We are delighted to announce that Turner-prize winning artist Chris Ofili has accepted 2013/15 commission, following David Shrigley, Jim Lambie and current artist commission Fiona Rae. He has produced a suite of 10 works, which from the end of October, will appear dotted around this website, featured on your Tate membership cards and on other bits and bobs sent to you throughout the year – as well as on display in the galleries.
Tate Members current artist commission, Fiona Raes work has been featured on membership material since 2011. Take a look at how her artist commission came together in the film below.
