Best day to visit

Outwit the crowds by visiting the galleries at their quietest. For Tate Modern this tends to be Tuesdays, and for Tate Britain it’s usually Mondays.

Best times to visit

Visit Tate Britain’s Clore Gallery first thing and you’ll pretty much have rooms full of exquisite Turner paintings to yourself. A great way to start your day.

Exhibition tips

The opening and closing two weeks of exhibitions tend to buzz with people. If that’s not what you’re after, it’s best to visit exhibitions mid-run.

Everyone seems to congregate in the first room of an exhibition. If you’re struggling to see anything, start at the end and work your way to the beginning.
