Black and white portrait of Edmund de Waal

Join 5x15 for an evening with the acclaimed artist and bestselling author Edmund de Waal, as he introduces his new book The White Road. The book chronicles his journey in search of porcelain or ‘white gold’ a substance he has been obsessed with for most of his life.

The White Road is full of compelling encounters with those who were witness to its creation, people who were inspired, made rich or heartsick by it, and the many whose livelihoods, minds and bodies were broken by it. De Waal’s pilgrimage leads him to a more profound understanding of the material he has worked with for decades, and chronicles the alchemy, art, wealth, craft and purity of porcelain.
