ITESO (Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Occidente) was founded in 1957 and has come to be known for academic excellence, community service, an intelligent spirit and international vision with both global and local perspectives. It belongs to a group of over 200 Jesuit universities around the world, sharing with them a 500 year-old educational tradition, known historically for educating leaders in every field of science and the arts.
An important part of our university life takes place in workshops, courses and lectures. ITESO students can take complementary courses in the performing arts, the visual arts, literature, music, and cultural heritage and management; they can also attend special events revolving around science and culture. They can also participate free of charge in activities involving dance, theater, music, poetry, and film, and attend exhibitions, workshops and seminars, among other activities. Internationally renowned painters, photographers, singers, writers and musicians have been invited to ITESO’s auditoriums to stimulate the artistic sensitivity of our students and the general public.
