All school groups, whether visiting independently or on a Tate-led session, must book their visit to Tate Britain in advance.

Please note: we are currently (as of 8 September 2015) experiencing a high number of booking enquiries and are taking a little longer than usual to deal with requests coming into the team via the booking form below and email. If you are planning a visit to the gallery within the next three weeks, please call our schools bookings team.

Have the following ready when you call:

  • a range of dates for your visit
  • a full address, telephone number and email address
  • group size and age of pupils (see below)
  • type of activity
  • whether you want to book a lunch slot and a place to store coats and bags (Please note that the lunchroom and locker facilities can only be booked by UK school groups)

The group guiding system is a closed loop hearing system that allows teachers/lecturers to talk to their group in the permanent collection without disturbing other visitors. There is a charge of £1 per headset.
