What We Did

We decided to focus on what aspects of our home city we felt proud of. We didn't know very much about our home city as we live far removed from its centre so we chose to find out about Wolverhampton past and present.

Final Thoughts

Students: We have had a brilliant time finding out about our own city. We found out so much we did not know. We found out that Wolverhampton has a proud industrial and architectural heritage. We only found this out by searching the back streets as most of the main streets have been rebuilt and converted into modern shopping centres. We discovered that Queen Victoria visited our city, but she found it very dirty and asked for the windows of her carriage to be shut so she couldn't see. Despite this, we are very proud of our city and we now know why we should be proud.

Teacher: I have thoroughly enjoyed this project and we have all learned about our home city. The timing of the project was perfect as we treated it as a post-SATs project for Year 6. Overall a brilliant experience.
