Go to the gallery. Give the following brief before entering: record everything except the art works in the gallery, using drawing and digital photography (if allowed). Divide into four groups, each focussing on one room.


Feedback the observations in class, record using a mind-map or make a list of essential characteristics of Tate Modern (or your chosen gallery).


Location: Tate Modern Landscape suite (or any other gallery environment)

  • Digital camera (a teacher could'float' from group to group taking one photo per pupil - some galleries will not allow photography)
