Education Open Evening
This exciting evening for young people and teachers features discussions, film screenings, music and refreshments. It is a chance to see the special displays East-West: Objects Between Cultures, Art Now: Raqib Shaw as well as to gain free entry into the Turner Prize 2006 and Holbein in England.
At 18.45 join curator and writer Mike Phillips to consider 'What is a British Artist?' The evening continues with various timed talks and drop-in events:
Have your portrait taken with your favourite piece of jewellery. Artist and jeweller Mah Rana invites you to take part in her ongoing project Meanings and Attachments.
In the main galleries, writer Tariq Mehmood uses storytelling, from his book Courageous Ali and the Heartless King, to raise debate around politics and religion.
Tate Britain's youth group, Tate Forum, showcase their work and discussing their role in the gallery.
Gavin Baldwin, Principal Lecturer in Education at Middlesex University explores citizenship in the Holbein exhibition. Matilda Pye and Kirstie Beaven, Tate Britain curators, lead an informal talk in the Turner Prize 2006 exhibition.
Pimlico School Jazz Band play throughout the evening.
