Uncovering Meaning
TATE MODERN FOR ALL LEVELS
This course focuses on the development of skills - thinking, discussion and making - to unpick meaning and enhance understanding. Through direct engagement with works of art in the gallery, participants explore the practices and theories which inform a critical understanding of modern and contemporary art. The course offers:
- Practical ways in which teachers might encourage students to analyse and interpret what they see
- Methods for considering how art is made, viewed and valued
- Tools for developing a critical dialogue that can be transferred to everyday learning
- Frameworks for discussion enabling students to place their own and others' work in a wider cultural context.
