Peter Blake

About Collage
8 April - Spring 2000

About Collage offers an unmissable insight into Peter Blake's practice as a collector and maker of collage. He has contributed significantly to the development of the technique since his student days and has also amassed a fascinating collection of collages in his studio.

Peter Blake has worked closely with Tate Liverpool to present his personal selection of collage from the Tate Collection, including works by Kurt Schwitters, Joseph Cornell and Jean Dubuffet. He has enriched this choice to striking effect with works by famous and anonymous artists from his own collection. Collaged clothing, furniture and trinkets are included to reveal the broad use of collage in often surprising contexts.

About Collage also examines Blake's own use of the technique. Favourites from the Tate Collection accompany commissioned collages for best-selling record covers and book designs, copies of which many of us own.
