Re-view: Exploring Twentieth Century Art

Led by Mat Gregory, Jane Morrow and Julie Robson
Tuesdays 7 October 2008 – 9 December 2008, 18.00–20.00

This informal introductory course offers a new way of looking at and learning about modern and contemporary art. It explores the dramatic changes that have taken place in the art world from the 1870s to today, in the context of Tate Liverpool’s exciting new collection display, DLA Piper: The Twentieth Century: How it Looked & How it Felt. The course focuses on ‘the subject’, ‘the object’ and ‘the artist’ in modern and contemporary art respectively across the year and is led by experienced art historians, artists and arts professionals.

The third and final term of Re-view: Exploring Twentieth Century Art focuses on the changing role of the artist from the 1870s to today focusing on themes such as the identity of the artist, gender politics and the body and the relationship between artwork, artist and viewer.

Led by art historians with illustrated presentations and discussions in the galleries. No experience necessary.
