In Conversation
Jun Yang and Barbara Steiner

Tuesday 23 May 2006, 18.30–20.00

Warm up for Liverpool Biennial 2006 by taking this opportunity to hear artist Jun Yang discuss the ideas behind his work in progress, commissioned for the International 06, with Barbara Steiner, Director of the Galerie für Zeitgenössische Kunst, Leipzig.

Yang and Steiner will discuss aspects of 'living for the future', focusing on Liverpool and Leipzig in particular. Leipzig has experienced a parallel history to Liverpool of decline and regeneration. The discussion will examine what insight we can gain from comparing the role of culture and political struggle in these two cities, considering the diverging aspirations and uneven opportunities that are apparent in both places.

Discussion moderated by Paul Domela, Deputy Chief Executive of the Liverpool Biennial.
