Symposium: Contemporary Art as a Factual Reality of the Slave Trade Today

Bound is a Liverpool wide exhibition of works by international contemporary artists representing personal perspectives of the impact of slavery on humanity.

This symposium explores the impact of slavery on humanity dealing with topics such as 'Human Trafficking', 'Race, Gender and Discrimination' and 'Freedom'. These subject areas will be discussed by panelists consisting of artists exhibiting in the Bound exhibition (see below), who will join academics and campaigners in reflecting on these different themes from the point of view of their various fields and methods of practice. Sessions will be chaired by representatives of Anti-Slavery International, Amnesty International and Stop the Traffik.

The exhibition is in collaboration with Bound, Open Eye Gallery, FACT, the Foundation for Art and Creative Technology, National Museums Liverpool and Tate Liverpool.
