A series of talks organised in partnership with Liverpool School of Art and Design, chaired by Professor Colin Fallows which explore some of the themes of Summer of Love: Art of the Psychedelic Era.

Barry Miles
Wednesday 8 June
Barry Miles was made Head of Zapple, the Beatles' spoken word label by Paul McCartney in 1968. An expert on the Beat Generation his publications include Allen Ginsberg: A Biography, Beat Hotel and Paul McCartney: Many Years From Now.

Ted Polhemus
Wednesday 15 June
Curator and photographer Ted Polhemus exhibited Posers at the Photographers' Gallery and curated the Streetstyle exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum. His publications include Fashion & Anti-fashion: An Anthropology of Clothing and Adornment, Streetstyle: From Sidewalk to Catwalk and Style Surfing.

Jon Savage
Wednesday 22 June
Author of England's Dreaming: Sex Pistols and Punk Rock, Jon Savage co-edited The Faber Book of Pop – Writings about Pop Music from 1942-1994. He was a consultant for the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame show I Want To Take You Higher: The Psychedelic Era 1965-1969, and is a founding contributor to Mojo magazine.

Jimmy Carl Black
Wednesday 29 June
Founding member of the Soul Giants, Jimmy Carl Black recorded albums such as Freak Out!, Absolutely Free, We’re Only In It For The Money and Cruising With Ruben and the Jets. He performed in the Frank Zappa film 200 Motels and continues to tour with artists such as Eugene Chadbourne, the Grandmothers and the Muffin Men.
