Please note: This is an example of previous work and will not be exhibited.

Rineke Dijkstra is one of the most prominent and celebrated photographic artists working today. Operating in the gap between how we see ourselves and how we perceive the world, her work reveals how identity can be subject to flux and transition. A recurring subject for her work focuses on teenagers and young people.

Dijkstra will work on a number of projects throughout the exhibition in a fully-functioning photographic studio, which will be set up within the exhibition. The projects will include a series of works for which she will photograph Liverpool high school pupils, and a new film project that she is creating in Liverpool nightclubs. Dijkstra's works in progress will be presented within the photographic studio.
