Art & Design / Literacy:
Image and text

  • Ask the pupils to close their eyes and read the text to them.
  • Ask the pupils to think about the images that are conjured up when listening to this passage of text.
  • Discuss the images that people thought of. Ask the pupils to make a painting in response to the text.
  • Show them a variety of other artworks and discuss how written responses could be constructed thinking about purpose, style and vocabulary.
  • They could produce a range of factual and creative responses in the forms of an art review, narrative, poem or diary entry for example.
