Church at Domburg 1914 Piet Mondrian
This small-scale linear ink drawing by Mondrian was completed 4 years after Sun,
Church in Zeeland. It shows Mondrian beginning the process of breaking down the image into a self-contained
arrangement of horizontal and vertical lines. The tentative embracing of abstraction was aided by Mondrian's
exposure to Cubism on his first visit to Paris in 1911.
