
Over the years you have helped Tate acquire nearly 400 works for the national collection of British and International Modern Art, film and video

Constable's scenes of the River Stour near East Bergholt in Suffolk, where he grew up, seem to capture the very essence of the English countryside. This, from his last long visit to the area, was painted substantially in the open air. Unfinished, it offers invaluable insights into his working methods.
