This four-session course investigates Louise Bourgeois’s art from a philosophical perspective. Rather than dwelling on art historical connections, participants have the opportunity to explore and discuss her work through its key themes, such as childhood and sexuality. Bourgeois has declared that her work is ‘about life’, and this course provides a framework within which to examine that claim in the presence of her work. It also addresses wider issues about the nature of art and expression.
