Following on from her successful workshop on participation, artist Ana Laura López de la Torre returns to look at the ways in which artists enter into complex creative relationships with other individuals. Moving beyond the traditional understanding of collaboration as a clearly defined partnership between peers, the course will look at a range of models for collaboration in contemporary art.
Participants will be invited to practice different forms of collaboration during the workshop, learning how to negotiate both the creative and practical aspects of working together. Their experiences will serve as a basis for a discussion about consensus, ownership, attribution of roles and power balance within collaborative practice.
The workshop, lead by artist Ana Laura López de la Torre, will provide a historical and theoretical background to the concept being explored, practical exercises and the opportunity to complete a small individual project in between sessions.
