This exciting six week course invites you to engage, enjoy and explore sound art and music-making in an imaginative and experimental way.
Through a series of lectures, listening sessions, experimental workshops and discussions you will learn about the historical and theoretical backgrounds to contemporary sound, the concepts of sonic colour and texture as well as discover compositional philosophies from a non-musical point of view.
Various spaces in Tate Modern will act as a unique playground for you to explore the notions of resonance, reverberation and acoustic space and to create works in response.
This course suits non-musicians and musicians alike. A willingness to listen, experiment and enjoy sound is the only prerequisite.
David Pickvance is an award winning music producer and composer. He is a multiple Promax and BASF Music Award winner and recipient of the Asia Pacific Creative Award and BBC Music and Audio award. He was BBC Composer-in-Residence during 2005.
