For the duration of UBS Openings: The Long Weekend, a giant board game covers the bridge in the Turbine Hall. It measures 3,000 square feet and has been created by set designer Delia Peel.

Adults and children are invited to play the game together, navigating their way across a giant playing board and undertaking challenges related to the new Collection displays.

Teams are named after well-known artists in the Collection and players wear bespoke hats identifying them, for example, the Magritte team have bowler hats, the Hesse team have string Medusa hats, the Warhol team wear white wigs.

Players encounter human statues, giant metronomes and an array of objects and characters that appear to have walked out of works in the Tate Collection.

The game tests creative ingenuity, problem solving and teamwork, and opens up new ways of looking at, thinking about and enjoying modern art.
