You Should Be the Next Astronaut
Charles de Meaux, France 2004, 1'
You Should Be the Next Astronaut is a trailer for a sci-fi film. ‘In 2000 thousands of sci-fi fans bought tickets to films they’d never normally pay to see, simply on the basis that these films were preceded by the trailer for George Lucas’s Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Significantly, once they’d seen the trailer for Lucas’s movie, these sci-fi fans left their seats and the main feature played to row upon row of empty seats.’ (C. de Meaux)

Shimkent Hotel
Charles de Meaux, France 2002, subs, 90’
In a small, faded hotel room in Central Asia, Alex struggles to regain his memory with the help of a neurophysiologist. Dominated by images of the infinite natural and gigantic industrial landscapes, his memories slowly reveal the story of the naïve adventure he embarked upon with two friends, reaching a climax in the traumatic shock that led to his amnesia.
